The Portal

The Portal of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Data Bases and Measurement Instruments is a website that includes information on a wide range of data bases and measurement instruments relevant to OHS research and practice. It has been developed by Quebec’s OHS research network: Réseau de recherche en santé et securité du travail du Québec (RRSSTQ). It is still under construction and new information sheets are added regularly.

It includes information on surveys, administrative, toxicological, legal, regulatory, bibliographic, occupational exposure, personal protective equipment and other databases. It will soon also include information on questionnaires measuring health various health outcomes or occupational exposures, various checklists for measurement of risks and on equipment. Each information sheet includes a general description of the data base or instrument, information on the specific variables measured, psychometric properties, relevance for occupational health and safety and how to gain access.

Although it includes information on English and French language data bases, currently the information about each data base is only in French. The Portal Committee is exploring collaborations with OHS organisations in other parts of Canada that might help fund translation of the site into English.
